Camping

The Moab area has more than 1,000 campsites, some public others private. Campgrounds within the National Parks, State Parks & National Forests generally have fewer amenities than privately owned campgrounds.

Camping in the National Parks

Devils Garden campground in Arches National Park is open year round, $10 per night.  30 of the 52 sites can be reserved March 1 - October 1 at reservusa.com, otherwise, first-come, first-served.

In Canyonlands National Park, there are developed campgrounds in Island in the Sky and Needles districts. First-come first-served. No food available in any districts. Take in plenty of food and water! General Information (435) 719-2313 www.nps.gov/cany

Camping in Dead Horse State Park

Reservations are accepted at Dead Horse Point State Park, 9 miles north of Moab on Hwy 191, 22 miles west on Hwy 313.  Call at least three days in advance.  (435) 259-2614 /800-322-3770.  There are 21 fully developed sites, $14 per site. Available year round. Private group sites available. Entrance fee: $7 daily pass per car.

Other Camping Options

The Sand Flats Recreation Area, developed through the collaborative efforts of Americorps, BLM, Grand County and the Moab community has 110 campsites, open year round on a first-come, first-serve basis. Campers need to bring in all their drinking water. Costs: $8/night per car up to 4 people.

The Bureau of Land Management operates campgrounds on a first come - first serve basis, limited to 14 days within a 30-day period. RV Sites have no hookups. More information: www.blm.gov/utah/moab/campgrounds.html

Reservations are accepted at Warner Lake National Forest Campground, south on Hwy 191 8 miles, east on LaSal Loop 16 miles. Open May-Sept. Reservations: 877-444-6777

Designated campsites can be found along the Colorado Rived from Dewey Bridge to Utah Hwy 191. Cost: $5 to $10. Fisher Towers has campsites for $10, first-come, first-served.

Archview Resort, at the intersection of Utah Hwy 313 and 191, has pumps to fill up propane tanks and a tank for RV latrine dumping.
